In common languages, about 80% of the freelance translators charge between 0.60 and 0.90 euros per line.
A translator’s output is something like 30 to 50 lines per hour.
This source of supply is by nature the most economical.
A reviser (specialist or engineer) manages between 100 and 150 lines per hour.
Revision means the complete comparison of the source and target language as well as checking the terminology.
At the usual hourly rate for engineers of at least 60 euros, revision would cost at least 0.40 to 0.60 euros per line.
PTS benefits in Luxembourg from low non-wage labour costs and negligible income tax.
Therefore, PTS can calculate a maximum of 0.40 euros per line for revision.
Since the purchase prices for all translation service providers are more or less the same, you should be sceptical of quotations for translation, including revision, of less than 1 euro per line.
Since, like everyone else, they all put their trousers on one leg at a time, that is simply not realistic! You’re buying a pig in a poke here!
