Good specialist translations are supported by three knowledge columns!

- Translations by native speakers and translation memories are the state of the art.
- Checking by engineers guarantees a higher quality level.
- The terminology database is a must for uniform and correct company language.
You cannot afford to do without any of the columns if you want optimum quality.
PTS translates your texts according to this 3-column concept.
Are you faced with choosing a translation service provider?
You need some background information in order to be able to decide objectively.
1. Information on the translation market ::: more
2. Information on pricing ::: more
3. Information on translation services according to BS EN 15038 ::: more
We are NOT registered or certified according to BS EN 15038! Read why not here…
BS EN 15038 does not require the target language to be the translator’s native language.
BS EN 15038 does not require revision by an expert (only if agreed!).
BS EN 15038 does not require terminology work (only if agreed and as a value-added service!). You do not get to know the source of the investigated terminology.
BS EN 15038 requires proof reading by a proof reader (‘two heads are better than one’ principle). The proof reader does not have to be more skilful than the translator, but his corrections must be taken into account. Cooperation between translators and proof readers is not envisaged.
BS EN 15038 requires an analysis of the source text before translation, in order to be able to anticipate translation problems. The scope of the analysis is not specified, but is only listed informatively in the appendix of the standard. The necessary (high) skill of the person in charge is not dealt with. The costs of this work step bear no relation to the benefits!
BS EN 15038 contains many should requirements that are only fulfilled if expressly agreed.

Conclusion:
| Translation services according to BS EN 15038 are no guarantee of quality.
The approach of this standard is with certainty correct.
As a customer, you should know the contents of this standard and close the gaps by specific agreements, if the translation service then still remains affordable for you!
